BAD ISCHL. The man stayed on January 4 at 1.30 a.m. on Salzkammergut-Strabe B145 at street kilometer 62.85 in Bad Ischl. The perpetrator stood on the side of the road and stopped a 23-year-old from the Gmunden district, who was driving towards Bad Ischl, shortly after the village of Lauffen with a trowel. Then he asked the detainee to show his driver’s license. The 23-year-old’s behavior seemed dubious, since the man was neither dressed in a uniform – he was wearing a dark jacket that said police – nor was there a police car.
Alleged police officer refused to show ID
The stopped car driver therefore refused to show the driver’s license and instead asked for a police ID. The stranger refused to provide identification several times. After a short discussion, a second man, dressed identically and positioned on the passenger side, emerged from the background. When the 23-year-old again asked for ID, the second man opened the passenger door. At that moment the car driver stepped on the gas and fled. He filed a complaint with the police. An immediately initiated search was unsuccessful.
